Andrew Rutherford
Andrew studied at Aston University in Birmingham. He then worked with his father David when they had the two practices in Newport and Ventnor.
Andrew works in all four branches now.

After completing an Engineering degree, Alan worked in the lab surfacing spectacle lenses and glazing them into frames.
He started working in the practices around 1998 and, after completing the college course, qualified as a Dispensing Optician in 2001.
Alan’s many years of working in the lab have given him an extensive knowledge of lenses and their workings.
Alan is available at Newport throughout the week.
Lee Pollard
Lee studied at City University in London and qualified in 2001 after doing his pre-registration year partly in Portsmouth, and finishing off at Rutherford’s. He has worked at Rutherford’s ever since and became a partner in 2004.

Michael Hartigan
Michael started his career in optics as a dispensing optician, studying in Cambridge and completing further studies in London.
He went on to attend Cardiff University for his optometry degree and more recently completed his professional certificate in glaucoma through Moorfields in London.
Michael now works part time in the Freshwater practice.
